Kao Mine village house handover
Storm Mountain Diamonds (SMD) (Pty) Ltd, handed over 15 houses to beneficiaries who had been relocated from Tiping to Sekiring village commonly known as “Porenki” in Kao area on the 11th November 2020. This event was graced with the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Honourable Mathibeli Mokhothu, Minister of Mining Honourable Serialong Qoo as well as Mininster of Local Government and Chieftainship Honourable Ts’oinyana Rapapa.
Tiping village is one of the villages which were affected by Storm Mountain Diamonds mining operations. Therefore the mine saw it fit to relocate the whole village to preserve their livelihoods and improve their quality life. A total number of 48 Households that were compensated for their loss of property at Tiping.
