Mining Policy and Legal Framework
The focus is on development of a Mining Policy and its implementation plan in line with Vision 2020, NSDP and the African Mining Vision. Another project’s component is review of mining legal framework and re-drafting of the framework in line with the new Mining Policy.
Lesotho Geochemical Mapping
The project seeks to identify new mineral deposits around the country. Data generated will complement the existing geological and geophysical data sets, and will enhance mineral exploration in Lesotho. This project is in line with Lesotho National Vision 2020 and the Millennium Development Goal (MDG) number 1.
Construction of a Geoscience Laboratory
Construction of a fully-equipped geoscience laboratory for analysis of soil samples collected throughout the country, and or in identified target areas. This is an attempt to intensify identification of country’s mineral resources base that could be exploited for economic growth and ultimately attain sustainable development.
